Vivacon tools / FavoForge
Managed bookmarks.
Made simple.
Create, edit, validate and export managed bookmarks for Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox. A free Windows tool built for IT administrators working with Microsoft Intune and browser policies.
Windows 11 · Portable application · Local processing

From folders to browser policies
Less manual JSON.
More control.
Stop assembling complex managed bookmark structures by hand. FavoForge provides a visual tree editor and exports policy-ready values for your browser and management platform.
01 / Build
Organize folders and links
Create and edit folders, change URLs, move or duplicate entries, and sort links within a folder. New and updated URLs are checked automatically without blocking your workflow.
02 / Reuse
Import existing bookmarks
Import bookmarks from HTML or supported policy JSON. Save your work as an editable FavoForge project with automatic backups when overwriting existing projects.
03 / Export
Deploy to three browsers
Export managed bookmarks for Edge and Chrome as JSON, including Copy for Intune. Generate Firefox policies.json or an Intune-compatible XML value.
New in version 1.5.0
Check URLs across your entire structure.
Use Check URLs to test bookmarks in all folders and subfolders. Review successful, failed, uncertain and skipped results, track scan progress or cancel a running check. An individual URL check also runs when you add or edit a bookmark.
Black indicates reachable; red indicates failed; orange indicates uncertain. Tooltips provide additional context, because some websites cannot be reliably tested with automated requests.

Browser policy output
One structure. Multiple export formats.
FavoForge generates values and files for managed bookmarks. It does not create Intune configuration profiles or assign policies. You deploy and test the exported settings through your own management platform.
| Browser | Policy | Output |
|---|---|---|
| Microsoft Edge | ManagedFavorites | JSON / Copy for Intune |
| Google Chrome | ManagedBookmarks | JSON / Copy for Intune |
| Mozilla Firefox | ManagedBookmarks | policies.json / XML value for Intune |
For the custom Firefox policy in Intune, ingest the Firefox ADMX template first using the name Firefox. When using imported administrative templates, use the raw JSON array from the main preview. Merge a generated policies.json with any existing Firefox policies.
Firefox export
Dedicated Firefox output.
The Firefox export window includes an Intune tab showing the OMA-URI, data type and XML value together. The status bar also reports folder depth, immediate subfolder count and direct URL count for the selected folder.

Frequently asked questions
Good to know.
Is FavoForge free?
Yes. FavoForge is free to download and use. Vivacon developed it as a way of giving back to the Intune community.
Does FavoForge modify Intune or the browser?
No. It edits local projects and generates exported files or clipboard values. You import and deploy them in your own management platform.
Can I open projects from earlier versions?
Yes. Editable .favoforge.json projects from the earlier PowerShell version and existing project files remain compatible with version 1.5.0.
Are there folder limits?
The application supports up to three folder levels below the managed root and twelve immediate subfolders per folder. There is no application-level limit on the number of links.
Are backups created?
When you overwrite a project, FavoForge retains up to twenty prior versions in a .backups folder next to the project file. You can inspect a backup before explicitly saving it as the current version.
